FAQ

Do you really have all of the files that you claim to have? Yes we do, and even more! We currently offer up movies, music, TV shows, games, software and other, and everything on the site can be downloaded at any time. Our catalog of files is set up so you can easily browse and search through them and find exactly what you want. Then it's just a couple of clicks to get the file downloading, and before you know it, you'll have your file.
What kind of download speeds should I expect? Download speeds vary greatly, depending on your connection speed, computer specifications and ISP's bandwidth allocation. The low side, if you have dial-up, would be around 4-5kb/s, while broadband access comes in at around 800kb/s. Some users even download as high as 2500kb/s!
How often do you update your downloads? We update our database twice a day with tons of fresh and exclusive content!
Is any of my information stored? We dont keep any records of your IP or anything you download. You're 100% anonymous, even your email address and password are stored encrypted so that even we do not have access to it.
Why do I have to pay for this service? Running a web site that can handle as much volume as our site can cost a bit of money. We use this fee to pay for server costs, bandwidth, upgrades as necessary, and of course our full time staff in order to make your experience as seamless as possible. We're always working to improve how our site works, in order to reward you with better service.
If I have a problem or question what should I do? Then feel free to contact us at anytime. We're always here to help 24/7. Use the contact support function to get ahold of us.

FilePost replaces FileSonic As Copyright Infringers' Favourite

For at least three years, a copyright infringer has eluded authorities, possibly because the "red flag" provisions under the existing DMCA are not invoked by copyright owners, and because "red flags" are liberally interpreted by the Online Service Providers who profit from piracy.

Every day, give or take, he sends out messages to his yahoo ( thefreebievipclub@yahoo.com) and google group (freebookclub@googlegroups.com ) members, asking them to "Subscribe" for access to his illegal links to file hosting sites (that usually pay him commissions on memberships and bounties on thousands of downloads). He also encourages them to subscribe to the hosting site, so they will be able to download more goodies at faster speeds.

The reason this guy outrages me beyond all reason is that he will publish and distribute multiple books by the same author in the same collection. This can be devastating to careers. It's illegal, copyright infringement, to publish and distribute any e-book without the permission of the author.

In one recent "collection", he targets Susan Mallery and gives away to his paying "VIP" members TWENTY THREE of Susan Mallery's novels. Twenty three of them!

He also infringes the copyright of Amazon's reviewers. Amazon knows about this, and apparently does not mind.

For instance, this is what is on the pirate site (Social Go hosted).
Falling for Gracie
When Gracie Ladon was 14 she became famous in her hometown, Los Lobos, California, for her obsession with 18 year old Riley Whitefield. She followed him everywhere and proclaimed her love for him. Finally when he was forced to marry his pregnant girlfriend, Gracie's mother shipped her off to live with her aunt and uncle. Now after 14 years, Gracie is returning to her hometown. A well known wedding cake designer, Gracie has been asked to make the wedding cake for her younger sister's wedding. Her family refuses to see that Gracie has grown up. Her mother and sisters seem to be waiting for Gracie to make a fool of herself again and Gracie feels as if it wasn't for needing to make the wedding cake they wouldn't have invited her home at all. Riley returned home shortly before Gracie only to discover that his uncle left him millions of dollars. An inheritance he can only receive if he is elected mayor of Los Lobos. When Gracie and Riley meet again as adults they are surprised to find that they are attracted to each other. Riley can't believe that the pretty and confident woman standing in front of him is the girl who used to terrorize him. It doesn't take long for passion to flare between them. But Riley's unscrupulous opponent is determined to use Gracie against Riley in the election and someone seems to be deliberately trying to ruin Gracie's business. Can Riley and Gracie figure out who is behind all the sabotage and get Riley elected mayor?
Falling For Gracie is one of the best Susan Mallery books that I've read. You quickly come to care about Gracie and want her to finally get the guy, save her business and kick some sense into her family. Sexy and fun, Falling For Gracie is a book I can't recommend highly enough.
This is on the Amazon page. As I say, I've told the Bezos office, and received a response (in the past). I have also sent a note to the reviewer.

With the arrest of MegaUpload last week, a lot of the file hosting sites cleaned up their act. Five days ago, I received this message from the pirate known as "Freebie Master".

Dear Members

Please read the important message by clicking the link below, we could
do with a little help, but we will make it worth your while!

Those of you that are not currently members of the VIP club will also
be given 'Complimentary VIP Membership' by special invitation, as an
added bonus for your help!

By the way, I have messed with the link. I wouldn't want anyone to use Visa or other credit card services to actually give this thief money. This is what was at the end of the link:

Dear VIP Members

I have managed to find an alternative to the Filesonic links problem with a new service called Filespost.

I need a little help from our vip members to move things over to the new service. It's going to cost a few hundred dollars to make the move, but unfortunately I don't have enough in the vip club account to do it at present.

I am therefore asking for a small $5 donation to help the club. Those members that can afford it, will not be forgotten, and I will make sure that they get a special package of goodies, sometime next week for their much appreciated donation. As most of you know, we are a non profit organisation, and the little we earn from advertising, goes to hosting and spreading the word.

Once the new service is set up, I will have new links with you in a couple of days

Here is the Paypal link to make your donation. Please donate if you can!

See lower down this post for the source code.

On Thursday, Max sent the following message:

Dear Members

Things seem to be settling down a bit since the Megaupload shakeup...
thankfully! Although, the 'uploaders' (the people who upload files on
these sites and we get out links from) seem to have 'scattered' and
are using many new sites (obviously testing the water themselves),
which does cause us a few problems, as I prefer to find stuff that has
the same download links, otherwise, members have to get premium
accounts with several sites (too expensive!) to get the faster/
multiple downloads.

The good news for our VIP members so far, is that Filepost and their
links seem to be OK, so it's still a good time to join the VIP Club!

There is a new 'Club Mix' (samples, coupons & freebie links) and VIP
Review (join the VIP club to get 300-400 extra goodies every week!) to
look at today!

Help your family and friends by forwarding this email to them. In the
present economic climate, they will definitely appreciate the thought!

in there!

Now, honestly, is there any room for doubt that this guy knows that what he is doing is illegal? Would any reasonable VIP member reading this be tricked into thinking this is "Free Speech"?

Here are some of the complimentary "goodies" this pirate has given away recently.

HAYWIRE... the movie. Less than 5 days since it was first released to movie theatres. It is still being advertised on TV.

If you want to check out the history of MOVIES that this guy gave away on April 12th 2011 (via Filesonic which has now disabled all copyrighted links) look at what he shared on his GOOGLE owned Picasa page
https://picasaweb.google.com/114970906932585710325/MovieMix15

Here's a screen capture of just some of the stuff on the "Paul Whittaker" page. Each image is the "cover" for a collection of between 20 and 300 other works, except for the bonus days, when he gives away a few thousand e-books.

These links were from the FILESONIC hosting days, so this is purely as an example. Eventually, Filespost will be as bad.

That's enough. You get the idea. This pirate cannot be immensely smart. His holiday photos of his adventures with local women are also included.

Bundling... good for professional pirates, bad for authors

Today, I notice that one of the foreign, for-profit pirates I follow is giving away massive numbers of ebooks in bundles.

"More than 3800 Titles in MOBI Format. Includes Mobipocket Reader Desktop 6.2
Kindle Library - 3,915 MOBI Formatted Books"

How are up to 3,800 authors going to establish whether or not their books are in this collection?

If they do, how are they going to send a DMCA? Filesonic and Fileserve require an URL. Although Filesonic claims that it complies with the DMCA, it does not remove repeat infringers, no matter how many times they infringe copyright.

Here are some of the bundles of books being "given away" (illegally duplicated and distributed by any downloaders) today:
